More people are trapped in slavery now than at any point in history. In 2016 it was estimated that 40.3 million people were enslaved worldwide including 250,000 here in the UK. Modern slavery can take the form of forced labour, sexual exploitation or domestic servitude.
Please help us bring freedom to people recovering from exploitation in modern slavery.
We are looking for 25 kind and generous people like you to give £25 PER MONTH to ensure a place on our ice cream cafe employability scheme for one survivor of modern slavery & human trafficking all year.
Or pick up a standing order form from the cafe.

Imagine a social enterprise where you have great fun serving the best premium ice cream you've ever tasted, using only natural and fair-trade ingredients. Imagine creating employment for survivors of human trafficking, restoring their dignity and giving them hope and a future.
Imagine creating a community hub in the centre of our village where all are welcome and a friendly face and listening ear can always be found. Where lives are rebuilt and fresh starts offer hope and purpose. A community cafe where every visit helps change a life.
That's us. We are Just-Ice Poynton and we're bringing freedom to some of the most disadvantaged people in society. So look out for us at 32 Park Lane, Poynton or contact us about attending your wedding, business, private or community event with our ice cream.
And most of all, find a way to partner with us. Let's have fun changing this world together. Because together we can make a difference to the least, the last and the lost.
Viktor* was trafficked from the Czech Republic to the UK on the promise of a well-paid job and accommodation. His travel would be paid for. He was told not to worry about anything. But when he arrived in the UK, these dreams quickly faded. Viktor was handed over to another trafficker, who took his ID documents away from him. He was then taken to a house where he lived with approximately 10 people. Viktor was put in a room with five others and forced to sleep on the floor, without even a mattress, just a yoga mat and blanket.
Viktor worked long hours. His movements were controlled and monitored by the traffickers. If he refused to work and do what he was told, he was threatened and beaten, which left him with several bruises and scars.
The charity Hope for Justice worked alongside Viktor, hospital staff and other professionals to address his immediate needs and provide essentials such as clothing, food and a SIM card so he was contactable.
Just-Ice Poynton works with charities like Hope for Justice to receive referrals of survivors of modern slavery who are advanced enough in their recovery to consider entering the workplace. We provide sympathetic employment in a caring, supportive environment with an emphasis on training and development in preparation for mainstream employment.
* Name changed to protect the survivor's identity.
Things are moving fast here at Just-Ice Poynton and we love sharing our breakthroughs with you!
